.::.Background Information.::.
Personality:
Bold and outgoing, she isn't afraid to stand up for herself, even if it means getting into a physical fight. She tends to keep to herself, saying little to those who speak to her. When she does talk, she is almost always sarcastic, never taking anything seriously. She can be mean, rude and ignorant.
History:
Unlike her brother, who loved the military life and meeting new people, Vanesa grew up hating the lifestyle. When she was just beginning elementary school, she had one really close friend that she did /not/ want to leave behind. After they moved, she began to block off people, allowing herself to be seen as the outcast or the loner. As long as no one bothered her, she bothered no one.
Near the end of her elementary school years, tragedy struck her life in a way she never expected. Her mother, being one of few people she was exceptionally close too, died in a tragic accident. After that, Vanesa began to lose all sight of life.
As she began to pass through her middle school years, she kept blocking off people, however... She did allow some to enter her life. These people were the ones that her older brother grew to despise. She began sneaking out, getting as drunk as she possibly could, and smoking whenever she saw the opportunity.
One day, her brother could no longer take it. To her surprise, he grabbed her, tossed her up against her bedroom wall, and held her there as he screamed at her. The one thing that he said that caused a larger change in her was, "What do you think mom is thinking right now? She's still watching us." After that, Vanesa blocked most people off from her world again. This time, she began to take a passion in some of the things her mother used to do before she died. Her mother was an inspired artist and spent her free time painting. Vanesa never got into painting, but when she wasn't out skateboarding, she was seen with a sketchpad and pencil.

School had ended about fifteen minutes ago. There was nothing new. No surprises. It was just another day that she would relive once tomorrow came around again.
She sighed deeply, listening to the consistent "clunk" sound of her skateboard as the wheels rolled over the sidewalk. "Yeah," Vanesa mumbled. "Just another day." Of course, she was the one who made her days so average and boring, but in a way, she was fine with that. Life was never a winning situation in her case. No matter what, she just could not find happiness. And only a couple people know why, because they suffered the same loss. But... They were able to keep going. She couldn't find the will too.
Passing a nearby park, Vanesa allowed herself to slow to a stop. When her skateboard finally grew still, she stepped off, leaving it on the sidewalk as she moved onto the grass. Her brown eyes glanced up at the sky, watching the clouds slowly float on by.
"I know you are up there somewhere. I'm trying... I know you know I am. But its really hard to keep going without you here," she whispered, crossing her arms over her black tank top as she gave a long sigh.
A few long minutes passed. She heard kids running down the sidewalk, shouting playfully to each other as they avoided her skateboard. Once they passed, she stared up at the sky again.
Somewhere up there, she knew her mom was watching.
"I'll make you proud," Vanesa whispered. "Its just going to take me a while."
